Frequently Asked Questions

Dangerous Goods and ADR, like most industry's is full of jargon, below are just some of the questions that are frequently asked, if you have more, please get in touch.

01  Why do I need a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA)

If you are transporting more than a set level of dangerous goods, it is a legal requirement. Having correctly trained and advised staff is always a good idea, for their safety and the companies. Also, if there is an accident and staff aren’t trained, or freight is incorrectly declared, you can be subject to prosecution by the HSE and subject to unlimited fines.

 02  What are Dangerous Goods?

They come in many forms (gas, liquid or solid) and have the potential to damage people, property or the environment. Many everyday items are covered by the regulations when being transported.

 03  What is ADR?

It is the “Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road”.

 04  Question - "Its under 1000 kgs/litres so it can't be a ADR/Dangerous Goods?”

Yes it is! If a product/item has a UN number or a class diamond then it still comes under the regulations, but only a small part may apply.

05  How will you work with our staff?

By phone? 24/7 By arrangement, I am available to answer queries to help keep your customers freight keep moving. I also train staff to a level that is appropriate to their role - Basics ADR Awareness for warehouse, non-ADR drivers and office staff & Function Specific Training for those roles needing a higher level of knowledge and training.

06  How will you work with our staff?

Jargon alert! Sometimes our European partners use “points” instead of litres or kgs for consignments under the 1000 kgs/ltr threshold where full regulation applies.
