Introducing Mark

Having grown up in Leicestershire and Cheshire I studied at Aston University, Birmingham in the mid 1980’s.

After graduating, Mark decided to stay in Birmingham and secured the position in the Traffic Office at Cadbury factory, Bournville, multitasking different transportation projects. Having spent his early trade years working Severn Trent, Cummins Engines and several regional hauliers Mark ended up at Fortec & Geodis Distribution in 2007. Having qualified as a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) he took over staff training and upgraded all the processes and procedures whilst managing the Compliance department.

My Dangerous Goods specialism has always been in Limited Quantities, Special Provisions & Exemptions, Mark also qualified as an ISO Internal Auditor and was also re-accredited for ISO 9001 and assisted the organisation through their 9001:2015 transition. Once appointed as the Company DGSA, he was also heavily involved in the Class 7 side of their operation maintaining audits and internal training.

After nearly 13 years with Fortec & Geodis, Mark decided it was time to focus on the area that he combined his two passions, dangerous goods and staff training. To that end, Mark set up The Dangerous Goods Consultancy, designed to utilise all of his years of experience in training and providing industry advice. He also now has time to Chair the British Association of Dangerous Goods; the association develops contacts in government and in industry to increase and improve the level of knowledge in general business of all dangerous goods.
Currently Mark is part of the Northamptonshire Logistics Forum and has been involved since it was established five years ago. I also have an allotment and have been Chair of the local allotment association for the last 6 years.
